Shubhangi Atre confirms exit from ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai’; Shilpa Shinde returns

Television actress Shubhangi Atre has officially confirmed her departure from the popular sitcom ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai’, bringing an end to her long association with the show.

Atre, who stepped into the role of Angoori Bhabi in 2016, won widespread appreciation for her portrayal and became a household name. She said that she filmed her final episode last week. She told Bombay Times, “I always promised Mrs Kohli that my journey in the show would start with aan, baan aur shaan and that is exactly how it would end too. I could not have asked for a better exit. There is no point delving into the reasons for the replacement. I see it as a blessing in disguise because as an artiste, I want to explore new characters. The idea is to step out of here and start looking for work again. After seeing so much in life, I am in fighter mode now and focused only on my daughter and my work.”

In a major development, the show’s original lead Shilpa Shinde is set to reprise her iconic role. Shinde, who first played Angoori Bhabi when the series launched in 2015, returns after nearly a decade, marking a nostalgic moment for fans.

The casting change has generated considerable buzz in the television industry, with audiences eager to see Shinde back in the role that made her a star.
