‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ director all praise for Ayushmann

After his debut playing a sperm donor, Ayushmann Khurrana will now be seen playing a man who suffers from erectile dysfunction in the forthcoming ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ which is a remake of Tamil film ‘Kalyana Samayal’ (2013). Director RS Prasanna has been gushing about Khurrana.

When asked whether Khurrana was ideal for the role due to ‘Vicky Donor’ (2012), Prasanna revealed to Pune Mirror, “That’s the immediate afterthought but not the reason why he was cast. He has brought so much life and charm to this character though I’m aware that the audience will joke that the sperm donor has gone missing here (laughs)”.

Talking further about his choice in doing such a film, Prasanna also shared, “I’ve always loved films that push the envelope. After the original released, many people wrote to me admitting that their marriage was on the rocks because of this ailment… The film asserts that love is important and the challenge of the subject excited me because I know it’ll open up a debate”.

‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ also stars Bhumi Pednekar and is slated for release on 1st September.
