Shruti Haasan too busy for script-writing?
Shruti Haasan is all ready to make a Bollywood comeback of sorts, and other than acting, she is also playback singing for a couple of her films as well. Most recently, her father, actor Kamal Haasan gifted her a script-writing software, and writing course for her twenty-ninth birthday. He is keen on getting her to write more.
Haasan has a knack for writing, and her father would like her to further polish her skills. She has been writing since the age of fifteen, and is all ready to unveil some of her work. In an interview to the TOI, she said “My dad thinks I’m a talented writer and must hone my writing skills. I have been writing short stories, lyrics, and poems ever since I was fifteen. However, very few people have read my work so far. It’s only now that I’ve decided to reveal portions of my writing. I want to get into writing for short films.”
Haasan has two big Hindi releases coming up, ‘Welcome Back,’ the sequel to the 2007 comedy ‘Welcome,’ and ‘Main Gabbar’ with Akshay Kumar. These films along with playback singing, have kept the actor so busy, that she hasn’t been able to utilize her father’s gift. “I’ve been juggling acting and singing. I really haven’t had time to start writing yet. But I want to make time for it very soon.”
Haasan started her Bollywood career with ‘Luck’ (2009) and worked on South Indian films afterwards. She hasn’t delivered a Bollywood hit as of yet, but if Kamal Haasan sees a writers spark in his daughter, Bollywood should be waiting. Plus, ‘Welcome Back’ and ‘Main Gabbar’ look promising too!
