Shruti Haasan opts out of ‘Sangamithra’

Shruti Haasan has opted out of the film ‘Sangamithra’.  The actress cited date unavailability and also reportedly did not receive a full script as reasons for not being able to be part of the film any longer.

Haasan recently unveiled the poster of the film at the Cannes Film Festival 2017.  However her spokesperson has now confirmed she is no longer in the movie.  “Shruti had to unfortunately take a call not to be part of ‘Sangamithra’. It was a massive undertaking and required a long commitment, spanning over two years. She knew the importance of her training, a comprehensive script and proper date calendar” as reported by the Times of India.

The actress had begun to undertake preparations as she was meant to play the role of a warrior princess.  She had hired a combat trainer to get her ready for the role but as she didn’t receive a bound script or a date for shooting, she took the decision to opt out.   The makers of the film also confirmed the news via social media.

The epic period drama also stars Arya and Jayam Ravi in the lead roles and is being directed by Sundar C.
