Shreya Ghoshal on going independent from films

The queen of melody Shreya Ghoshal has recently unveiled a single, Dhadkana Azad Hain, and has received much appreciation. The popular playback singer has spoken about her decision to move away from Bollywood for this.

“It came from my heart that I should go independent from films. Undoubtedly, there’s a lot of scope for good music in films but sometimes, we are confined in that boundary to sing within the story narrative and because it is a film, there are a lot of constraints. I wanted to sing something, which was out of those restrictions,” said Ghoshal, talking to Hindustan Times.

Ghoshal also explained that, when taking up a song in a Bollywood soundtrack, the success of the film isn’t really something she focuses on, “Right now, I am doing everything and trying everything. I am not holding on to any thought if I should take up a project or not. Sometimes, I make sure that I don’t think about whether a song will do well or not”.

Ghoshal has remained a firm favourite for Sanjay Leela Bhansali since she marked her playback debut with his film ‘Devdas’ in 2002. She has already record for the album of Bhansali’s forthcoming ‘Padmavati’.
