There are numerous award ceremonies in Bollywood but the most credible seem to be the National Awards. However, this years wins at the National Awards seem to have disappointed a few. Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar was hoping for his ‘Piku’ writer, Juhi Chaturvedi, and the film’s leading lady, Deepika Padukone, to bag the honours.

Speaking to Mid Day, Sircar said, “I did want Juhi (Chaturvedi, writer of ‘Piku’) to win an award. And one for Deepika Padukone too. She was fantastic.”

The filmmaker is, however, thrilled that Amitabh Bachchan won the Best Actor honour for the aforementioned film.

While Padukone managed to bag all the commercial awards for her performance in and as ‘Piku’, the National Award for Best Actress went to Kangna Ranaut for her performance in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’.
