The much talked about 3D version of the cult classic ‘Sholay’ (1975) has been delayed from its August release due to hefty competition from ‘Ek Tha Tiger’.

The blockbuster was due for release on Wednesday 15th August but has been put back until further notice.

A source told Times Of India, “The changed date hasn’t been fixed yet. Earlier, it was okayed by the distributor and financer Jayantilal Gada to release the 3D version at the same time as Ek Tha Tiger. However, the promos of Ek Tha Tiger becoming a hit, they had second thoughts.”

Jayantilal Gada told the newspaper, “We are not postponing the film because we are apprehensive of locking horns with Ek Tha Tiger. Who will not see Sholay? The point is we are not ready with our sound effects. Our team is still working on them.”

While the makers are denying the postponement being down to ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, the industry is abuzz that it is down to the Salman Khan release. According to a report, “The promos of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ are looking hot. Moreover, Salman is having a glorious run at the BO since a very long time now. It is always better to be safe than sorry.”

‘Ek Tha Tiger’ releases in mid-August.
