Shiamak Davar on current Bollywood stars: “Some newcomers are really pathetic”

World renowned Bollywood choreographer, Shiamak Davar has worked with a whole heap of stars, be it legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan to Shahid Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan and the newest lot Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. However, he was rather stern about some of the newcomers who have recently joined the film industry.

Without giving names away, Davar in an interview with Raj Baddhan on Sabras Radio (listen here) said, “Some newcomers are really pathetic. Some newcomers haven’t really struggled so they have no idea of dedication or being on time. They have no discipline. They think they are right before they have become stars. So certain newcomers like that I really don’t want to work with. Otherwise, I love working with people who are open minded and fun.”

When probed further, Davar said, “With Shiamak Davar and his team, we treat everybody alike. When Gauri Khan came as Shah Rukh’s wife, we treated her like everyone else. It was wonderful. Shah Rukh would stand outside and wait for her as the loving, loving husband. People like Amitabh, Shah Rukh, Abhishek, Aishwarya, Priyanka and all of my people. I mean they all work so hard, so I don’t see why anybody should be treated like that – whether they are from a family or not, they have to work hard.”

The dance “guru” as he is known as, is currently in the midst of promoting his two dance productions in Leicester and London under the brand ‘Spirit Of India’. It is is a celebration of India’s spirituality, mythology, rich history, diverse culture, colourful festivals, flamboyant weddings, unifying music, exhilarating dances and of course Bollywood. All in true Shiamak Style.

‘Spirit Of India’ will be held at Curve Leicester on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd June.
