Shia community object to ‘Raees’?

Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘Raees’ has fallen into yet another controversy. Following the film’s trailer release, the Shia community in Mumbai have objected to scenes in the film.

A community member, Javed Shroff, told Deccan Chronicle, “Nanji (Shia community member) and the others informed me about the objectionable scenes and requested me to take up the issue with the concerned authorities so that the filmmakers remove it not only from the trailer but also from the film.”

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, the film stars Khan alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan. Pakistani actress Mahira’s presence in the film had also caused much controversy for the film following the political tension between India and Pakistan.

‘Raees’ releases on 25th January 2017.
