Recently, Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nihalani has come under fire owing to the cuts being asked for for the forthcoming ‘Udta Punjab’. Whereas many in the fraternity have come together in support of the film, Shatrughan Sinha has spoken in favour of the job Nihalani, who is coincidentally his friend.

According to Hindustan Times, Sinha said, “Firstly, I haven۪t seen Udta Punjab as yet. I will soon. But speaking purely from an objective point of view, Pahlaj is doing a thankless job, and doing it most efficiently. Filmmakers who attack him forget that he has not made the rules. He is only following the guidelines laid down by the government. Don۪t shoot the messenger if you don۪t like the message.”

On the abusive language which is included in the film, Sinha also gave his opinion, “I don۪t use that kind of language in my everyday conversation. And I۪ve never used abusive language even while playing ruthless villains on screen. I always made sure that my dialogues did not disparage women or any community people or cast. Why must characters make their point with profanities?”

Talking about amendments that the censor board might need following everyone’s stand with ‘Udta Punjab’, the BJP politician and veteran actor said, “Until that happens, don۪t abuse the censor chief for clamping down on abuses. He is just doing his job. According to me, Pahlaj is the best chairperson of the censor board ever”.

‘Udta Punjab’ is scheduled to release on 17th June and the verdict from the High Court is expected on Monday.
