Sharad Malhotra on ‘Vidrohi’ going off-air: “It is human to get disappointed”

Sharad Malhotra starring ‘Vidrohi’ is going off air soon. The actor played the leading role of Buxi Jagadbandu in this historical drama by Subrat Sinha and Dr. Bodhisattva. Sharad sounds emotional bidding goodbye to the drama.

“It was such an honour to play the role of an unsung warrior of Odisha, Buxi Jagabandu Bidhyadhar Mohapatra Brahmbar Rai in Vidrohi. We have received amazing feedback and lots of appreciation from the viewers too. As far as the TRPs are concerned there is not much an actor can do but this show was much above and beyond the number game. It was a sheer pleasure to work with Gatha productions, and my producers Mr Subrat Sinha and Dr. Bodhisattva were extremely helpful, professional and such a delight to work with,” he says.

The actor gets emotional talking about the show coming to an end. “It is human to get disappointed when all good things come to an end, but life moves on and so do we. This is one of the most complex and multi-layered characters I have played on-screen till date and shall cherish every moment spent on set with such a beautiful and talented ensemble cast. Be it Sulagna Panigrahi, Hemal Dev, Chaitrali Ji, Anant Desai Ji, Danny Sura… every person who worked with us did so with much sincerity and got so much to the table that there were times when the scenes we enacted seemed so real to us,” he adds. Next, Sharad hasn’t thought about the kind of roles he would want to do but, like always, “they need to be performance-oriented and something that will push him out of my comfort zone”.

Before taking up anything new, he is planning a short vacation to unwind. “I want a breather before I take up another project. Thankfully, lots of work opportunities are knocking.,” he shares.
