Shakun Batra denies plans for ‘Kapoor & Sons’ sequel

Shakun Batra has denied rumours that surfaced today about plans for a ‘Kapoor & Sons’ sequel.

Denying the news, Batra told DNA India, “No, I don’t have any idea for the Kapoor And Sons sequel. Like everyone else, even I am just getting to know of the development from the stories doing the rounds. But I don’t think there can be a sequel to Kapoor And Sons at all.”

Talking about his next project, Batra said, “I can’t divulge details about my next right now. But yes, it’s different from what the reports have been claiming. It’s not a rom-com. It’s in a different space, a very different world for me. I haven’t even finished the first draft so I don’t know whether there will be a happy ending or not. So I will talk about it once I finish scripting.”

Asked if he would be signing up any of the stars from his ‘Kapoor & Sons’ hit, he said, “It’s true that I share a sweet bond with Sidharth, Alia or Fawad. And it’s true that they will always be my first choices when I plan a film. I will definitely think of Sidharth if I think he suits the part. But it has not reached that point yet. And I am old school. I don’t believe in approaching an actor without a script.”
