Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Jersey’ delayed due to plagiarism?
Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur’s sports drama ‘Jersey’ has been postponed again by one week. Initially it was thought that this was to avoid a clash with ‘KGF Chapter 2’ and Vijay Thalapathy’s ‘Beast.’ However, new reports say that the delay is actually due to the accusation of plagiarism.
‘Jersey’ was originally scheduled to release back in August 2020, but it was delayed due to production concerns. And when it was finally scheduled to hit cinemas in December 2021, it was again postponed due to the third wave of Covid-19 in India, reports Box Office Worldwide.
The new release date was supposed to be in a few days. But the now one week postponement is rumored to be because of the film’s producers being accused of plagiarism.
According to ETimes, the production have been charged by a writer named Rajneesh Jaiswal, who claims ownership of the film’s story. Justice Chagla of the Mumbai High Court will hear the case.
