Shahid Kapoor’s character in ‘Udta Punjab’ based on Yo Yo Honey Singh?

Shahid Kapoor’s completely new “grunge” look for ‘Udta Punjab’ has shocked many and reports say that his character Tommy Singh is loosely based on Yo Yo Honey Singh.

While, the makers have denied such resemblance, DNA India reports that there will be feelers of Singh, who recently admitted battling alcoholism.

A source told DNA India, ���The whole cult of the wild raunchy Punjabi rock star was spearheaded by Yo Yo Honey Singh. Toh kahin na kahin usski chabbi to aani hi hai. I�۪d say Shahid plays a much wilder and far more aggressive version of Yo Yo.�۝

Kapoor’s character in the film comes from Birmingham, who is brought by his Tauji (Satish Kaushik) to Punjab to become a rock star. ���It�۪s a wild character who indulges in rampant substance abuse.�۝ says the source.

‘Udta Punjab’ releases in June.
