Shahid Kapoor replaces Arjun Kapoor in ‘Arjun Reddy’ remake?

BizAsiaLive.com reported not long ago that Arjun Kapoor was to star in the upcoming Hindi remake of ‘Arjun Reddy’ (2017). However, it seems the actor has been replaced by Shahid Kapoor if rumours are to be believed.

It seems Arjun had his doubts about the film’s director Sandeep Reddy Vanga who directed the original Telugu film. A source told Asian Age, “Arjun’s father, Boney Kapoor, has an office in Hyderabad and used to operate out of there a lot. He was told that Bollywood films should have directors who can carry off the local language well because when a south filmmaker directs a Hindi film, a few things get lost in translation. Arjun shares a close bond with his Tevar director Amit Sharma and wanted him to direct the film instead”.

It seems Arjun’s keenness to replace the director cost him the entire project. “So, Arjun’s insistence on a director of his choice saw him out of the film and Shahid in,” added the source.

Shahid will be seen next in ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ and Imtiaz Ali’s next.
