Shahid Kapoor defends ‘Kabir Singh’ against negative criticism

Shahid Kapoor has spoken up about the negative criticism about ‘Kabir Singh’, since the movie has been deeply entrenched in violence and misogyny.

Kapoor is not fazed by the negative comments, though, saying that the movie sought to make the character’s behaviour unacceptable in order to make him a worthy antagonist.

Kapoor expressed the following in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, “If Kabir hadn’t slapped Preeti (Kiara Advani’s character), would everything else that he did be okay? Because he slapped the girl, you feel that is unacceptable and that Kabir Singh is an unacceptable character. We want you to feel this is unacceptable, his behaviour has gone beyond control.”

Continuing, Kapoor pointed out, “Kabir Singh is the guy who the film is about and he is the guy who’s the problem” – the “protagonist” and “antagonist” of the movie.”
