Shahid Kapoor clears the air on reported fee hike

Shahid Kapoor is celebrating the success of ‘Kabir Singh’ (2019), which went on to be a hit at the box-office despite the criticism it faced for alleged undertones of misogyny. ‘Kabir Singh’ has turned out to be Kapoor’s biggest solo hit film so far. Post the success, reports suggest that the actor has upped his fee to a Rs 35-40 crore.

Reportedly, Kapoor has demanded Rs 40 crore for the remake of the Telugu hit, ‘Jersey’ (2019), starring Nani and Shraddha Srinath.

Kapoor opened up about the rumours of him charging Rs. 35 crores as fee in a recent interview. He cleared the air saying that he has to first sign a film to receive any money, reports Filmfare. He said that according to him the only people who are making money are Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani (producers). He said that he has the same bank balance as he had before playing ‘Kabir Singh’ and that he has to sign another project before getting paid.

‘Kabir Singh’, the Hindi remake of the Telegu hit film ‘Arjun Reddy’ (2017), is directed by Sandeep Vanga and has raked in a total of Rs 270.43 crore at the box office in 33 days.
