Shah Rukh Khan wanted to play Akshaye’s role in ‘Ittefaq’

With Hindi film remakes hitting the theatres regularly these days, ‘Ittefaq’ is one such thriller that will be releasing very soon. The original ‘Ittefaq’ (1969) starred Rajesh Khanna and Nanda in leading roles. Khanna’s character was a criminal-on-the-run who is charged with the killing his wife. The remake is rumoured to be a slightly different from the original and has two murders to be solved.

Bollywood Hungama reveals that Shah Rukh Khan, co-producer of the ‘Ittefaq’ remake, said he wanted to be a part of the film and play Akshaye Khanna’s role. However, he went onto say that the role eventually went to a better suited actor.

At a recent press conference, Khan reportedly said, “When I read the script, to be honest, I wanted to be a part of it as an actor as it was so exciting. But, I think a better actor has essayed the role now which is Akshaye Khanna and more befitting for the role. Unfortunately, I had decided to do three films so I couldn’t become part of Ittefaq. I was doing Raees and Fan and they were physically very hectic. I just love the way the film has been adapted and turned around and changed a bit and when it comes out I hope everybody will enjoy it.”

The ‘Ittefaq’ remake which stars Akshaye Khanna, Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha is slated to release on the 3rd of November, 2017.
