Shah Rukh Khan quits Twitter over abuse

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been forced to quit the social networking site, Twitter after admitting he was abused by some of his followers.

In an interview withDNA India, Shah Rukh said he was still reeling from the aftershock of abuses he received online including derogatory language and swears.

Elaborating on this, the host of upcoming show ‘Zor Ka Jhatka – Total Wipeout’ on Imagine said, “Everybody۪s entitled to freedom of speech but posting gaalis and abusive words is another matter. I certainly don۪t deserve it. My son (Aryan) came to know about one such case and asked me, Dad, who are these people? Why on earth should they talk to you like that?۪ That۪s when I decided to take a break from it. Recently, when I posted something on Ra.One, the abusive postings reappeared again. When something bad is written about me, at least I know who۪s behind it but these (on Twitter) are faceless and nameless people. They are just getting a kick by giving gaalis to Shah Rukh Khan, I۪m bewildered by all this.”

Shah Rukh said that he had only signed up to Twitter after recommendation by fellow industry pal Karan Johar. He initially thought it would be fun interacting with all his fans directly. However, something happened recently, which the star said broke his heart. He said, I was left wondering as to why he was being subjected to all this.

‘King Khan’ recently made a brief comeback on Twitter to wish his followers greetings for the New Year after nearly two months away. It۪s not known if he will make a full-time return.

Karan Johar has also reduced his presence on the site after a similar situation.
