Shabir Ahluwalia quits ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ for new Yash Patnaik show

Popular television star Shabir Ahluwalia has quit ZEE TV’s long-running series ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ after eight years.

Hindustan Times reports that Ahluwalia who played Abhishek Mehra in the ZEE TV series, has already handed in his papers. His character is currently seen in coma.

A source told the publication, “Shabir and Ekta (Kapoor, producer of the daily soap) are friends and remain cordial. Everything was done without any hassle. However, the network doesn’t intend to officially talk about their exit.”

The actor is said to have signed Yash Patnaik’s new show, which will be going on the floors this month. The untitled show is expected to go on-air as soon as next month.
