As more and more big names are realising the huge benefits of the web, Shabana Azmi is the next name to join the bandwagon in a digital show called ‘The Moghuls’, where she will be seen playing an unknown, yet pivotal role.
“This is my first web series. The medium has a tremendous reach. ‘The Moghuls ‘is an adaptation of Alex Rutherford’s historical book that deals with Mughal history all the way from Babar to Aurangzeb,” Deccan Chronicle reports the actress stating.
Produced by Nikkhil Advani, she went on to talk about her character. “Everyone knows about Mumtaz Mahal only because Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal for her. But what was she really like? In The Moghuls I play Babar’s grandmother Esan Daulat. Not much is known about her, but she was the real power behind the throne. When Babar was 12, it was she who made sure that he was crowned emperor,” Azmi added.
When asked about how she feels about the online platforms for moving image, Azmi exressed, “One can tell a story as elaborately as one wants. I am shooting for 40 days for ‘The Moghuls’.”
