Shabana Azmi: “It is high time to see the the world through an feminine gaze”

Shabana Azmi has always been very vocal with her stance on equality. She has always supported women empowerment, and recently spoke at the ‘#F for Freedom MAMI’ segment of the Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival on the same.

TOI reports Azmi saying, “I am very delighted that MAMI this year is concentrating on making women’s work more visible. I think its high time that we start to see the world through an feminine gaze.” Azmi was also joined by Manisha Koirala, Kiran Rao, Anupama Chopra, and Neha Dhupia.

Rao, who started the initiative said, “The initiative was started two years ago, to inspire females to be a part of the film industry, not to just tell stories. We want females to join the film industry as writers, actors, technicians, creative arts and camera people, as this will improve the condition of women.”
