Seetha Kumar appointed new controller for BBC website

The BBC has appointed Seetha Kumar as controller of bbc.co.uk.

Seetha Kumar, the former head of BBC HD, will also be accountable for the strategic and editorial development of bbc.co.uk and will chair a new bbc.co.uk board of key executives from across the corporation.

Kumar’s new role was created following a BBC Trust review of the corporation’s Future Media & Technology operation, which, it concluded, lacked editorial direction and strong management.

Kumar joined the BBC in 2005 and has been director for crime and health documentaries and head of lifeskills for television.

She will report to FM&T director Erik Huggers, who said Kumar has “proven experience in working collaboratively to deliver major projects which can exploit the scale of the BBC”.
