‘Seeta Aur Geeta’ remake escapes legal woes

When duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar were reported to have huge troubles with their 1973 film ‘Zanjeer’ being re-made, it comes a a bit of a surprise that they feel very differently about their film ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’ (1972) undergoing the same form.

As ‘Zanjeer’ may still be going through a legal battle for a newer version, Mid-Day��report a source stating, “It was the same team that wrote the Hema Malini starrer. The remake of ‘Zanjeer’ is now in legal tangles. But looks like ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’�۪s remake may not face any problem at all.”

With a slight sense of confusion as to why Khan and Akhtar have no problem with this film, Khan himself reported to the media, “‘Seeta Aur Geeta’ is actually the female version of ‘Ram Aur Shyam’ (1967), which in turn was inspired by a novel called ‘Scapegoat’. In that case, we don�۪t have any right over it. Our argument about ‘Zanjeer’ is different as it was our original script. In case of Seeta Aur Geeta, everyone is allowed to have their own interpretation.”
