Veteran broadcaster Sarita Sabharwal has resigned as Director at newly launched station, Jeo Radio.

Sabharwal, a prominent voice in the UK Asian radio industry, has worked at stations like Sunrise Radio and Lyca Radio. She started up Jeo Radio, along with Avtar Lit. BizAsiaLive.com understands that Sabharwal notified the authorities on Thursday.

Jeo Radio launched around six months ago. Its analogue transmission on 1584AM in North London was abruptly turned-off due to non-payments. This week, the station has replaced its on-air presenters with back-to-back music. Earlier in the year, Tony Patti who was fronting the station’s Breakfast show, left to focus on other bigger radio projects.

Jeo Radio was touted as Lit’s big comeback to UK Asian radio broadcasting after Sunrise Radio, he had founded, went into administration in 2014. The then Sunrise Radio and Kismat Radio frequencies were acquired by the Lyca Group (now named Lyca Radio 1458AM and Lyca Gold 1035AM). Lit’s son, Tony Lit then took charge of Sunrise Radio, while Avtar moved to India.
