'SaraswatiChandra' to end on Star Plus?

The UK’s most popular Asian TV show ‘SaraswatiChandra’ could be on its way out soon, to make way for Ekta Kapoor’s new show ‘Mera Tera Rishta Purana’.

The new show has been awaiting a timeslot for many weeks and it finally looks like it is ready to go on the air. Aaj Tak reporter Amith Tyagi told Raj Baddhan on Sabras Radio that ‘SaraswatiChandra’ will be ending before the year-end. While the show has been under the scanner in recent months, it has picked up in the ratings in India and is continuously topping the UK ratings chart too.

An actor from ‘SaraswatiChandra’, who wished to remain anonymous denied the news. He said that he had not heard anything about the show ending and neither had the channel taken a call on it. Star TV is yet to confirm the developments.

Speculation over the future of ‘SaraswatiChandra’ had mounted recently after lead actor, Gautam Rode took up the role as host on ‘Nach Baliye 6’, which starts next month. Furthermore, the show’s storyline had sped up with the climax of Pramad’s evil antics being exposed to Saras and Kumud’s families. One is now wondering where the show will lead to next. However, show producers are adamant that there is plenty of life in the show remaining.

It is already known that Star Plus is planning to re-launch its afternoon schedule, so possibly moving existing shows to the afternoon band and using the vacant primetime slots for new shows is likely.

Meanwhile, ‘Mera Tera Rishta Purana’ stars Divyanka Tripathi and Cezanne Khan. Its a story based on the popular novel ‘Custody’ by Manju Kapoor.
