Sanskar TV rapped by Ofcom for claims about Baba Ramdev products
Sanskar TV has been rapped by Ofcom after it received a complaint about ‘Yoga with Baba Ramdev;, which was broadcast in Hindi on 29th January 2023, included references to products that the complainant considered were potentially harmful and unregulated in the UK.
The broadcaster said the programme containing “product placements of Patanjali Ayurved and Ruchi Soya” was not “meant to be broadcast on Sanskar TV UK but on […] Sanskar TV India channel”. It stated the programme had been unintentionally broadcast due to “a human error by a member of [its] scheduling team who mistakenly included the programme in our Sanskar TV UK broadcast schedule”. The Licensee acknowledged “the seriousness of the situation and regret[ted] any inconvenience caused”. It added, “as a responsible TV channel, we always abide by the policies and guidelines of Ofcom” and “have systems in place which help us to strictly follow the compliance rules”.
