Sanjhi Awaz Radio ceases broadcasting
The Midlands digital Asian radio station, Sanjhi Awaz Radio has ceased broadcasting after suffering financial difficulties.
In July, BizAsia reported exclusively that the station was in trouble and was looking for investors to pump money back into it. However, it was unable to meet the costs to keep the station on-air.
Sanjhi Awaz Radio, which was based in Oldbury (West Midlands) was broadcasting since April 2010. At the time of launching, the station said it was to fight the likes of Sunrise Radio, Panjab Radio, Punjabi Radio and Asian FX for market share, who all broadcast from Southall but are not providing a local service for the Midlands.
