After being voted as one of the best top 10 films of the millennium, Sanjay Leela Bansali has decided to make ‘Devdas’ (2002)into 3D.

As reported by Mid-Day, Bhansali hasreceived critical acclaim for this film in particular, especially after being disparaged by Indian critics when it first released. This is the tenth year of Devdas and, somehow, the film hasn۪t lost its sheen. We۪re now going to do a 3D version of the film to commemorate these ten years. When Devdas released, it was slammed by Indian critics for being over-the-top and melodramatic. But Corliss had loved the film and supported it for the same qualities. Today, when he selects Devdas alongside The Artiste and Avatar as one of his 10 favourite films of the millennium, I feel that my struggle was worth it,۝ the director said, confirming the plans.

Devdas۪, which was based on a 1917 novel, even made in to the Cannes Film Festival and alsobagged the Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars in 2003. ”My next film is based on a literary work, too. And I am happy to say it has a lot of singing and dancing,” stated Bhansali, when talking about being inspired by novels.
