Sanjay Dutt’s loss, SRK’s gain in ‘Raees’

Sanjay Dutt’s non-starter ‘Sher’, which was set to take off a few years ago but was halted due to producers Shri Ashtavinayak getting into some legal bother.

However, not many would recall but ‘Sher’ was going to see Dutt in a similar role to that of Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Raees’. It now seems, the film being shelved has worked in ‘Raees’ advantage.

A source told Deccan Chronicle, “The plot of Sher was similar to SRK’s Raees. Sanjay was to play a bootlegger, which Shah Rukh is currently playing. The movie was announced in 2014, but unfortunately Sanju too had to go to jail and the film eventually got shelved.”

Dutt is expected to start work on ‘Marco Bhau’, produced by Shelly Chopra. Meanwhile, ‘Raees’ is set to hit cinemas on 25th January 2017.
