Sanjay Dutt is expected to return to prison imminently after his furlough extension was denied.

The actor, who was granted a 14-day furlough on 24th December, applied for an extension but had not received a response. He was ready to surrender on Thursday 8th January but returned home after authorities said he could wait for a decision on the extension.

“Since 22 years I am abiding by the law, I have been ordered to surrender and I am going for it… Every prisoner gets furlough of a month in an year, it was given lawfully, I have not been favored,” he said.

His frequent furloughs has left many fuming and his prison sentence questioned. The Bollywood actor was out once to treat his knee, on the other occasion to take care of his hospitalised wife and look after his twin toddlers.

Dutt had served 18 months in jail earlier and is now serving his remaining 42-month-jail-term in Pune۪s Yerwada Jail.
