Sanjay Dutt & Pooja Bhatt confirmed for ‘Sadak 2’

With plans underway for the sequel of ‘Sadak’ (1991), it has now been confirmed that Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt will reprise their roles for ‘Sadak 2’.

Pune Mirror reports that the film’s release date has tentatively been given as 31st August 2018 – close to Dutt’s birthday on 29th July. As well as Dutt and Bhatt, a young couple will be cast to take the story forward.

Talking about the film, Mahesh Bhatt told the publication, “Innumerable discussions over a period of two-three weeks showed me how the once-vulnerable boy from Naam had matured into a deeper human being. Sanjay who was 32 when we made the original, comes back as a 54-year-old Ravi into the 21st-century world that is collapsing in front of his eyes, where the distinction between the house and the ‘sadak’ is fast disappearing. The story has the emotional connect of the films I made back in the ’90s which brought a lump to the throats of the viewer. I could see that in the reaction of those present at the narration. They were visibly moved.”

Asked if Alia Bhatt will be a part of the project, Mahesh added, “No, Alia is not going to be a part of this film. But it is going to bring back Pooja in a dazzling new avatar. And like the original, the music will be its USP. We have already finalised two songs and even as we speak, Jeet Gannguli is playing one for us. It’s time to go on back on the road again.”

The film’s director will be announced soon.
