Sanjay Dutt not doing Omung Kumar’s ‘The Good Maharaja’

Director Omung Kumar had reportedly announced in August 2017 that he had signed actor Sanjay Dutt to play Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji in a biopic on Nawanagar’s royalty, called ‘The Good Maharaja’.

Kumar had even unveiled a poster from the production, hoping to beat Director Ashutosh Gowariker who is making a film on the same topic, to the finish. However the film has met with an obstacle before the filming has even commenced. The daughters and legal heirs of the Maharaja, Hershad Kumari and Himanshu Kumari have sent a cease and desist notice to Kumar and co-producer Sandeep Singh at Legend Studios.

Pune Mirror reveals that Dutt is no longer a part of the film. The actor’s spokesperson confirmed the news, stating, “Sanjay Dutt is not doing The Good Maharaja with Omung Kumar.” Kumar and Singh were reportedly set to begin work on the film very soon. With this second obstacle, their schedule could be further delayed until they find a replacement for Dutt.

Pune Mirror reports that both Kumar and Singh refused to take their calls.
