As reported by BizAsia earlier today, Sanjay Dutt has been released from prison after serving a sentence for possession of an AK-47. The actor, who will be completely free from court cases and imprisonment after over 20 years, has expressed that he wants to make clear he is not a terrorist and does not want the 1993 bomb blast to be associated with him in media articles.
Absolute India quote Dutt as having said, “Before I go I just want to request the press which if you will accept I will be very grateful and happy. I want to say that I am not a terrorist. Main apneTADA Court se baizzat bari hoke nikla thabomb blast casese. I am convicted in the Arms Act and this is what even Supreme Court has also told that I am free from all the charges of TADA and the punishment which I served was for the Arm Acts. So I request you that whenever you speak in press about me don’t mention 1993 bomb blast case.”
Dutt was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘PK’ (2014). The actor is expected to get straight back into work. Hirani’s biopic on Dutt’s life is also expected to go on floors soon now that Dutt has been released.
