Sanjay Dutt allowed to take mattress & mosquito repellent in jail

Sanjay Dutt has been permitted to take his mattress, pillow, copy of Hanuman Chalisa, Ramayan, Bhagvad Gita and his own toiletries including toothpaste, shampoo, slippers, kurta pyjama and mosquito repellent and a fan, to jail with him.

The court confirmed that he was denied to take cigarettes (not even electronic cigarettes) to prison.

He has been given 5 years’ rigorous imprisonment by the Supreme Court which had reduced one year from original sentence of 6 years’ rigorous imprisonment for his conviction under the Arms Act for possessing an AK-56 rifle.

Earlier, Dutt surrendered along with 4 others, Kersi Adjania (82), Altaf Hussain (50), Yusuf Malwalla (63), Essa Memon, brother of prime absconding accused Tiger Memon. The court has taken them all in custody.
