Salman Khan has given his backing to Indian tennis player Sania Mirza, who was slammed by a BJP politician K Laxman over her appointment as the Brand Ambassador of newest state, Telangana.

Laxman termed her a ‘daughter of Pakistan’ and raised questions over her appointing a ‘non-local’ as the Brand Ambassador of a state. In a reply to him, Mirza cleared by saying that she is the daughter of India and will remain till the end of her life.

The ‘Kick’ star Khan took to Twitter and said, “Wah yaarrr! sania mirza , kamaal karti ho . Like the spirit , issse bolteh hain kick ass . .”

Mirza too replied Khan over the social network. She said, @BeingSalmanKhan 🙂 u always make me smile..true friend ..love.۝

Mirza, who is married to Pakistani Cricketer Shoaib Malik, was also backed by many politicians and her millions of fans over Facebook and Twitter.

Mirza cleared her stand as she said, It hurts me that so much precious time of prominent politicians and the media is being wasted on a petty issue of my being appointed the Brand Ambassador of my State of Telangana. I am married to Mr. Shoaib Malik, who is from Pakistan. I am an Indian, who will remain an Indian until the end of my life. My forefathers have lived in Hyderabad for more than a century. My grandfather, Mr. Mohammed Zaffer Mirza started his career as an Engineer in Nizam’s Railways in Hyderabad in 1948 and died in his ancestral home in Hyderabad. So, my family belongs to Hyderabad for more than a century and I strongly condemn any attempts by any person, whosoever, to brand me an outsider.”

She concluded by saying, “I hope this clears all doubts and issues.”
