Sangraam Marathe quits ZEE UK after a decade

ZEE Network’s Head of Subscription and Distribution, Sangraam Marathe has quit the organisation as of Thursday 1st December.

Sangraam has been with ZEE Network since 1995, and has held diverse portfolios within ZEE, amassing a keen understanding of the entire business along the way first in India and for the last decade or so, in the UK.

Sangraam was responsible for the launch of Music Asia (now Zing) in the UK the first channel to specifically target second and third generation South Asians. He was also in charge of special projects ranging from local productions such as ‘Mutz Cutz’ to Transmission and Broadcasting. His production background came to the fore when ZEE Network organised the landmark ZEE Cine Awards in UK. Sangraam was then Event Head for ZEE Network’s mega three day extravaganza – the ZEE Carnival.

When ZEE Network launched ZEE Radio, its maiden radio venture in UK, Sangraam was responsible for all programming as the Content Head and was later promoted to Acting Business Head.

His move from the creative side of the business to the revenue side was complete when he was made Head of Subscription & Distribution, ZEE Europe a couple of years ago. The fact that a pay broadcaster like ZEE Network is still a a huge market contender in a scenario so tilted towards the free-to-air channels should, at least in some part, be testament to the commitment and freshness Sangraam brought to the role.

Sangraam is now keen launch out on his own and explore new opportunities in UK & Europe in the fast-evolving world of digital TV and media.

He currently is on gardening leave until the end of this month.

Recently, Virad Kaul was confirmed as ZEE Network’s new Territory Head, overseeing tge broadcaster’s business in the UK and Europe.
