South Indian cinema’s dream couple Samantha Akkineni and Naga Chaitanya have today ended weeks of speculations surrounding their relationship and have announced that they are separating, after four-years of marriage.
As cited on Hindustan Times, the ‘Jannu’ (2020) actress shared the news in an Instagram post, “To all our well wishers. After much deliberation and thought Chay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us. We request our fans, well wishers and the media to support us during this difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Thanking you for your support.”
Prior to that, Akkineni had also posted about what she does in moments of despair, she wrote, “When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it – always. #MYMOMMASAID”
The news has come as a shock to many but according to some earlier rumours the signs were apparently already there, suggesting that not all was rosy between the pair. ‘The Family Man 2’ (2021) actor’s sudden change of her profile name to just her initial on Twitter sparked questions. Adding to this, a fan had asked if she was looking to move to Mumbai during a Q&A session on Instagram, to which Akkineni said, “I don’t know where this rumour started but just like a hundred other rumours, not true. Hyderabad is my home, will always be my home. Hyderabad is giving me everything and I will continue to live here very happily.”
The couple were first seen together in Gautham Menon’s Telugu movie, ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’ (2010).
