Salman Khan will not attend hearing on 8th May

Salman Khan, on Wednesday, was sentenced to five years in jail after being found guilty of all counts in the hit and run case of 2002. BizAsia has learnt that the actor will not be present at the hearing due to take place tomorrow.

Khan is currently on a 48 hour bail period and many well-known names have visited the actor to meet him before he is imprisoned. He does not need to be at the hearing tomorrow. He may end up being granted a further period of bail.

Meanwhile, the actors fans have organised a demonstration in support for the actor in Mumbai on Sunday 10th May. On Twitter, hashtags such as #IStandWithSalmanKhan and #WeSupportSalmanKhan have been seen trending.

The actor is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and killing one person and injuring four in an accident 12 years ago. He has maintained throughout that he was not the one behind the wheel at the time the incident took place.
