Salman Khan sentenced to five years imprisonment

Salman Khan has been sentenced to five years imprisonment under the culpable homicide (not amounting to murder) section.

Khan’s lawyers are expected to appeal against the decision in the High Court. Khan will be taken to Arthur Road Jail later shortly.

Khan, who left the shooting of his film ��Bajrangi Bhaijaan�۪ in Srinagar to be present in court, was found guilty of running over five men in the case which is now 12 years old. He has maintained that he was not behind the wheel, accusing his driver Ashok as being responsible just a few weeks ago.

Khan’s lawyers argued for a lenient sentecing earlier. According to NDTV, the lawyer urged the judge, “You can’t punish him more because he is an actor. If he is to suffer , he should suffer as an ordinary person.”
