Salman Khan petitions to release Sarabjit Singh

It was reported that Pakistan are to release Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh but it soon came to light that it was not the same Indian National who has been convicted and sentenced to death. So much so was the uproar in India over the matter that a few B-town bodies have been involved in protesting to release him, the most prominent being Salman Khan.

Recent reports have it that��Khan has launched an online petition in appeal. IBN Live reported Khan stating on his charity website Being Human, “For over 20 years, Sarabjit Singh is in a Pakistan prison for a crime he did not commit. He and his family have suffered for too long. Please sign this petition to appeal to the Pakistan government that he be freed and united with his family in Punjab.”

Khan had earlier tweeted “Requesting the people of pakistan to support me to help free surabjeet who has been in prison since 30 yrs. Please . Allah ka vasta.” He launched the petition via his charity website on 29 June 2012.
