Salman Khan on noone wanting O O Jaane Jaana

Salman Khan has revealed that the chartbuster O O Jaane Jaana was offered from film to film before it eventually got used in the 1998 hit ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’.

Speaking to the BBC Asian Network in a special programme airing this Sunday, Khan has shared unheard stories about the making of the song and how it was originally supposed to be in ‘Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai’.

“I heard this song and it was like the most fabulous song that I’ve heard so I tried to put it in that movie, then I tried to put it in some other movie and some other movie. Nobody took that song from me. Then we started Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya so I said “if I like the song so much, I’m going to put it in my movie.”

Talking about how girls swooned to his topless look in the music video, Khan says the decision was spontaneous and has changed the way he prepares his costumes.

“From a medium, large and extra-large – these three sizes are always there on the set. So that came from O O Jaane Jaana because I was wearing a red shirt in that song and the shirt didn’t fit… I was standing there. I was sun tanning… Sohail (Khan) looks at me and says “shoot it, just like this.” So I said “let’s go for it man”, so that’s how – because the shirt didn’t fit, we did the bare-chested thing – otherwise I was wearing a shirt.”

This is one of several exclusive stories shared with the BBC Asian Network for the ‘Salman Khan Takeover’. You can hear the programme on air at 1pm this Sunday.
