Salman Khan insisted ‘Fugly’ item song to be removed

Salman Khan & Akshay in 'Fugly' song 340x

The popular item song ‘ Ye Fugly Fugly Kya Hai’ was ordered to be removed from this weekend’s release ‘Fugly’ by Salman Khan.

Many fans who went to watch the film starring newcomers were left disappointed after the song featuring Khan and Akshay Kumar was not included in the final cut of the film. “But nobody expected that the final copy of the film which hit theatres on March 13 would not have the two A-listers,” a source told Times Of India.

Khan was said to be unhappy with the song, with reports only a few weeks back saying that Khan felt Kumar was hogging the limelight and had stormed out the shoot of the song. The source said, “Salman was not happy with the song, he had issues with it.”

One of the exhibitors in India told Times Of India how the move has left many fans annoyed, “The people are feeling cheated. Why do bogus publicity?”

Producer Ashvin Yardi said she had made it clear at the trailer launch held in early April that the song was simply a promotional measure. Talking about the removal of the song, Yardi said, “Fugly is a content driven film which deals with several burning issues of our society. The song did not fit into the film.”
