Salman Khan brands A R Rahman “average”

Salman Khan has branded music maestro A R Rahman “average” at an event this week in Mumbai, before quickly retracting his statement.
Mumbai Mirror reports that at the launch of ‘Raunaq’ – a musical collaboration between A R Rahman and Union Minister (Telecom & IT) Kapil Sibal, Khan was invited to the podium where he started off praising Sibal. He said, “Kapil sir is a great lyricist.”
However, when it came to Rahman, he shocked the audience by saying, “You all know what an average artist Rahman is. Right?”
It is believed that Rahman was not happy with jibe and Khan realised his mistake. He tried to make amends by saying, “There are only two things in common between him and me, which is Jai Ho.” However, the crowd was not pleased.
A source told the publication that Khan is known for his witty humour and Rahman did not take this personally. However, another source agreed, “what happened was definitely not in good taste”.
Rahman had earlier issued Khan with a legal notice for using the title ‘Jai Ho’, claiming he had exclusive copyright over the term – only later to clear it.
