Nowadays, it is the norm for celebrities to make a number of television appearances on shows such as Comedy Nights With Kapil۪ and Bigg Boss۪, while promoting their upcoming films. In fact, over time promotion has been given even more importance than the filmmaking process itself. At times, PR teams work on spreading rumours, such as linking the lead couple of the film, just to garner attention throughout promotions. According to Salman Khan, film promotions today are becoming cheaper and ridiculous.

Earlier we used to finish our dubbing and be done with the film. Then, the producer would go out and promote the movie. Now the game has changed. The actor has to promote the film. It۪s a big traas (pain). And promotions are just getting cheaper. People are going to any limits to promote their film. It۪s ridiculous,۝ Khan said in an interview to Filmfare.

The actor also went on to say that he believes all this extra effort in promoting films is unnecessary and film promotion should continue to be the way it was in the 1990s, with films being promoted solely via posters and promos, along with a handful of interviews at most.

Khan, who was last seen in Sajid Nadiadwala۪s Kick۪ (2014), is currently busy shooting for Sooraj Bharjatya۪s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo۪ opposite Sonam Kapoor.
