Salim Merchant: “I was always intrigued by acting”

Bollywood music composer and singer Salim Merchant will soon be seen making his acting debut with Yash Raj Films’ digital-series ‘Love Shots’.�� However, Merchant never thought he would turn to acting and believes that he has learnt a lot from this opportunity.

Speaking to PTI, Merchant said, “The cinema industry is like an ocean and music is its part. I was always intrigued by acting but I never thought I will act��_ I just came across this script, I liked it, I learnt a lot and it is very different from my music.”

Actress Tillotama Shome is paired opposite Salim Merchant in the short film titled ‘Fired’.

When asked about the chemistry with his costar, Merchant stated: “I’d say I got to learn a lot and it is my good fortune that I got to work with such a good actor. I learnt a lot from her. Her timing and her experience was incredible.”

‘Love Shots’ is a series of six short films based on love and features actors like Saqib Saleem, Farida Jalal, Swanand Kirkire and Kulbhushan Kharbanda among others. The series debuted yesterday with ‘The Road Trip’ and can be viewed on the Y Films YouTube channel.
