Around a year ago there were rumours of Phantom producing a remake of the Telugu film Magadheera۪, in which they were hoping to cast Ranveer Singh. The latest news is that it is now Sajid Nadiadwala who will be buying the rights to remake the film and he will be signing Shahid Kapoor for the film. After producing four box office hits this year: Highway۪, 2 States۪, Heropanti۪ and his directorial debut Kick۪, Nadiadwala is apparently very excited about this new project.
Sajid is quite excited about making the film and talks are on that he would be starting the film this year itself. In fact Madhu Mantena, who has the remake rights for Magadheera۪, is also keen that Sajid makes it and they have already met to discuss things further. Talks are also on that Shahid Kapoor might play the lead role which was played by Ram Charan in the original, a source said to Absolute India.
The original Telugu version was released in 2009, starring Ram Charan and Kaajal Agrawal, and went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters in the Telugu film industry.
Kapoor is currently busy with Vikas Bahl۪s Shaandar۪, in which he will be seen opposite Alia Bhatt for the first time.
