Saira Choudhry leaves ‘Hollyoaks’ as Anita

Saira Choudhry will be leaving the role of Anita Roy on Channel 4’s daily teen-drama ‘Hollyoaks’.

The troubled teenager will bow out from the show on a positive note in the coming days.

Talking about her departure from the show, Saira said that she felt she was leaving the village at a good time. “I think there were more ways for the character to be developed, but she left at the right time.”

Talking to the official ‘Hollyoaks’ website, she said, “She’s quite a disturbing character, isn’t she?! She’s grown up a lot this year though. She’s not so self-absorbed and she’s been using her experience to help Jasmine/Jason. She’s turned into a young adult now.”

Saira also spoke about her favourite storyline whilst on the show, “I think it was probably the story where Anita tried to bleach her skin. That was my favourite story in terms of how challenging it was for me and how well the scenes went, but having said that, it wasn’t a ‘nice’ story to play. It was a really tough story, but it’s the one I’m most proud of.”

Her on-screen family left the show in 2009 too. It is not known where Saira will move on to next but she is on the lookout for a new agent for more drama roles.
