Saira Banu asks for PM Modi’s intervention in Dilip Kumar’s land dispute

Saira Banu, veteran actress and legendary actor Dilip Kumar’s wife, had recently sought a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the issue of their house, following the release of the builder, Samir Bhojwani, from jail.

Banu says the couple has been facing threats over their residence from “land mafia” Bhojwani, reports India Today.

Banu on Tuesday told India Today, “It is painful to see Dilip Kumar sahab staying out of his own house. There is a threat to us.”

On Sunday, Banu then requested to meet Modi, through Kumar’s official Twitter account. She also told the media, “The house is owned by Dilip Sahab since the 1950s. In the year 2002, we shifted from the house as it was in a dilapidated state. We shifted to the house we currently live in which is owned by me. It is very painful that due to all these litigations Dilip sahab has to stay out of his own house. It was an old cottage where our wedding took place. His two sisters used to stay there and we have so many fond memories. The bungalow was a landmark. People from distant places would come to watch Dilip sahab’s bungalow.”

She went on to say, “It is my dream to build a museum at that place. Dilip sahab has won so many awards and so many things are there to show to his fans. This will be a perfect gift to them. The film industry has shown support to us. Many film stars – from Amit ji [Amitabh Bachchan], Shah Rukh [Khan], Salman [Khan], Aamir [Khan] to Kareena [Kapoor], Priyanka [Chopra], and Madhuri [Dixit] – keep visiting us and ask about Dilip sahab’s health. I am sure the whole film industry will support us in this too.”
