Saif Ali Khan on venturing into the digital arena with ‘Sacred Games’

Digital content is booming at the moment in India, with the arrival of Amazon Prime and Netflix. Saif Ali Khan is the first leading actor to be signed a web series, a Netflix original ‘Sacred Games’. He recently spoke about the upcoming project.

“It is the future of movies. We have all kind of bigger films, the so-called mainstream, blockbuster films. I wouldn’t call it niche, but I would call it unpretentious films. I think my acting improved working with some of these actors. It was a really good experience,” said Ali Khan, according to Bollywood Hungama.

On being the first actor to do so, Ali Khan also commented, “I quite like the reputation of being an actor as well. What I mean by that is I am thinking more like an actor than a star, perhaps, these days. I just want to be creatively satisfied. I want to feel good doing it, and I don’t want to follow rules. I don’t want to be worried about anything as long as I have integrity and I am working hard. There was a time when I had gotten lazy, but today I am up at 7 am and on set, so I am enjoying that”.

Talking about the long shoots, Ali Khan reveals, “It is hectic. We shoot for 12 hours a day and we don’t even get time for lunch. It is very interesting. He (Vikramaditya Motwane) is a very good director and watches everything closely. I think I am glad I’m working with him at this stage when I am pretty good at my job, I feel. He can tune it and he can tell me to watch that area. He is very aware and we are trying to do something special. He is also competing with the rest of the world”.

‘Sacred Games’ is a crime drama based on Vikram Chandra’s book of the same name.
